Our goal with our community outreach is to be able to spread the word about robotics to the community. We want to encourage students to join a robotics program and hopefully to recruit students going into middle school and want to go into FTC next year
Robot Demo at Rancho Days
Rancho Days is an annual event in our community, celebrating local non-profit organizations, community connection, and the historical nature of Rancho Santa Fe.
During this event, we organized a demonstration at the local public library to show what our robot can do. We also allowed volunteers to test-drive the robot.
This shared our robot with the community and encouraged children to get excited about robotics and inspire them to eventually join our robotics team.
We have over 60 visitors stop by our area and ask about our robot.
Local FLL Mock Judging
We hosted a mock judging event for our FLL teams so they could practice presenting and deal with the nerves that you get in front of judges. This judging helped them get feedback apart from their coaches.
One team we helped said our feedback was so useful that it helped them to win a Core Values trophy at their qualifying tournament!
FLL Tournament
To promote excitement within our school about the FLL Challenge program, we hosted a tournament for our school teams to give them another opportunity to compete. This was especially exciting for teams that did not make it on to Regionals and gave them another opportunity to run their robot.
We hosted the tournament after school on a Thursday afternoon and invited the entire school and families. It was great fun and everyone had a blast. We presented trophies to the top 3 teams that we 3D printed with the help of one of our teachers, Ms Mendez.
